Direct-view LED makes the picture on the wall itself. Projection puts light onto a separate screen. Both can create a compelling large image; room design, viewing distance and the selected equipment determine the better fit.
A projector’s image depends on the projector, screen and ambient light together. An LED wall emits its own light, giving more flexibility in many illuminated spaces. Brightness still needs to suit the room rather than overpower it.
Projection needs a suitable throw path and mounting or ultra-short-throw arrangement. LED needs a supporting wall, power, cable routes and service access. Neither solution should be specified from diagonal size alone.
Native resolution, pixel spacing, contrast and source quality all matter. View representative content at the planned distance. A particular TV or projector may outperform a particular LED wall in some picture characteristics.
